【Sorority (2025)】

It doesn't matter where he is Sorority (2025)-- on the page, the screen, the Quidditch field, or the stage -- Harry Potter is a winner. And he's got another record to add to that trophy case in the Gryffindor common room thanks to a record-breaking performance at Britain's Olivier Awards on Sunday.

As expected, Harry Potter and the Cursed Childgathered up a record nine awards at the annual theater awards show in Britain, dominating the "play" portion of the evening. If only they had a few Weird Sisters songs, maybe they could have swept the musical portion, too.

The awards:

  • Best new play

  • Best director: John Tiffany

  • Best actor: Jamie Parker (Harry Potter)

  • Best actress in a supporting role: Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger)

  • Best actor in a supporting role: Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy)

  • Best set design: Christine Jones

  • Best costume design: Katrina Lindsay

  • Best sound design: Gareth Fry

  • Best lighting design: Neil Austin

Dumezweni had one of the more moving speeches of the night, speaking to her own background as a refugee: "May 17, 1977, I arrived in this country as a refugee child. My sister and my mother... it is going to be 40 years that we are celebrating being in this country -- family, it is all about family, being safe, being in your safe place."

The book version of Cursed Childhas already sold millions of copies while the stage version has racked up millions in ticket sales due to a constant string of sold out performances that would give Hamiltona run for its money.

Speaking of Hamilton, the musical will face a new British invasion in the spring of 2018 when Cursed Childdebuts on Broadway and, likely, will sweep up a slew of awards then, too.

Dumezweni is on record as saying she'd love to reprise her role as Hermione on American soil, but the cast for that production isn't nailed down yet. But what you can bank on is, well, the bank: Cursed Childwill rake in a whole lotta cash money when it comes to the States.

The Olivier Awards air Tuesday night in the UK on ITV.
